This week in Battle Rap… Do the Ladies Run This….

This has been one of the biggest weekends in battle rap history. With Both Url’s Born Legacy 3 and KOTD World Domination 6 going down, it geared us up for a historical week. Born Legacy 3 was a event that started off with a little bit of a hiccup as two of the main performers didn’t show up. B Magic and Yung Ill (both from St. Louis) who was suppose to battle Mr. Wavy and Ave respectfully, no showed which left the fans upset because they were highly anticipated matches for the day one card. Other than that Day one of BL3, had some very close battles and some classic performances. The one performance everyone was talking about was NU Jerzy Twork’s. There’s a lot of talk about how Twork is prepped to be a Superstar as he 3-0’d his opponent Dougy on his URL Debut. Day 2 of BL3 didn’t disappoint with a classic battle of its own. Daylyt vs Mike p has people buzzing saying it could go down as battle of the year. WD6 a 3 day event really has been very tight lipped on how the event went. I guess because you can watch it as a PPV on their website. One recap I did see was about Charlie Clips vs Iron Solomon, Where both mc’s bragged about how it was a classic and they both put on great shows. Whatever the case, I can’t wait to see footage from both events.

This week really showcased a variety of Female Battle Rappers doing their thing and making a statement that they can hang with their male counterparts. VA Paperchaser (a Veteran Female Mc) has been on a tier lately. Coming off a classic battles between Aura and Classy, She has not slowed up. Recently Releasing “Spoken Truth” Her new Mix tape, She has a song called “Rookies vs. Vets” where she throws shots at Queen of the Ring, The most prominent Female Battle league and one of their top mc’s Norma Bates.

Another Female who has been stirring the pot of Controversy is Melato Black. A seasoned Battler and League owner of Trap House NJ, Melato took to Instagram to express her feelings about South Jersey Battle Rappers not living up to expectations and Aren’t as good as her Homie Ah Di Boom, A Star Mc of RBE who is currently locked up. Even Though no names were mentioned personally , many believe the comments were for Loud Boys Members Bonus and Dre Dennis. Dre Dennis just came off a battle on BL3 and Bonus who battles on URL Proving Grounds, both seemed to agree there is tension coming from the trap house owner because they don’t battle on that league anymore.

2 great battles I came across featuring Female mc’s was Showoff vs QB the Black Diamond of RBE‘s Blood, Sweat and Tears 4 event and Vixen the Assassin vs Ms. Miami. Both battles were impressive as the ladies showed they are a force to be reckoning with. But the battle of the week has to go to RYDA vs Fettuccine 20 on URL Proving Grounds. This Battle can easily go on the list of top battles of the year. Both mc’s put on a hell of a show, with every round being so close, its hard to pick a winner. This one is a must see. Also this week I came across a battle in where there was a round that was for the ages. O-Mega vs Chillum had one of the most lyrical rounds I heard all year. O-mega first round was crazy as he broke chillum’s black power persona down to the tee. I wouldn’t be surprised if this clip went viral. O-mega is defiantly one Mc to watch for in the future.
