The South Got Something To Say

This week has been very entertaining to say the least. There’s been a lot of battles being posted as of late and a certain part of the USA has been the main focal area of where and who is being represented in these performances. The South (not known particularly for Lyrical Mc’s) are showing that they have some artists who are not to be played with. With the emergence of down south battle leagues, it looks like Battle rap have infiltrated these states in a major way.

The first Battle that caught my attention this week was a Midwest/ Southern show down between Saint Mic from Nebraska vs. A. Ward from Tennessee. This battle was bar heavy. As Saint Mic came with witty and creative angles. A Ward, who is a Christian, surprised the crowd with lines that almost crossed the line but was well put together. Every round was close so to say this one was debatable would be a understatement.

The next one I saw was Stizo Gretzski vs. Billy Boondocks off Body Bag Battle League. This battle had me laughing a lot. Both guys were animated and very entertaining. Stizo came with hard , gritty punchlines that came very direct at his opponent. Billy Boondocks played more to the crowd with funny jokes and antics, Both mc’s rebuttal game was on point. If I had to go with a winner it would be Memphis Own Stizo 2-1 .

One of the battles that impressed me the most came from ZigZag vs Pg Skillet. Another battle from BBBL, ZigZag and Pg Skillet both came with fierce bars and you can tell there was animosity between them. Every Round came down to who had the best haymakers and I have to say Zig Zag fit the bill. Zig Zag aggression and performance overwhelmed Pg and to me he clearly won 3-0. Zig Zag along with Glueasy are defiantly representing North Carolina in a big way.

B Magic vs. Syah Boy did not disappoint as this battle released later in the week. Both Mc’s are known for punchlines. So this was a punch heavy, taking shots kind of battle. A lot were confused by why B magic would take this battle with Syah Boy and not show up to battle Ave on BL3. Either way, B magic showed why he is one of the best when it comes to delivery and great punchlines that make the crowd react. Syah Boy (Atlanta mc and Close friends with Joh John the Don) truly came to play too. Trying to Step out of JJDD shadow and become his own force battle rap, Syah came with all he had in this battle nad edging it 2-1.

Last but not least I have to talk about Fade, a event by BullPen Battle League. This Atlanta Event was lit. Filled with Big Names and introducing the league’s top guns, this event which is thrown by JJDD was epic and really catapulting Bullpen Battle league up to one of the top 5 leagues in Battle Rap. Xcel vs Loso was fire and very debatable. Charron vs K shine is a match that was overdue. These two had a encounter on a 2 0n 2 battle, where Charron pointed a fake gun at K shine which lead to a smack that was seen all over the internet. But the battle that made this event epic is the much anticipated Chef Trez vs DNA. This battle is Super Fire and has all the elements that make battle rap so good today.
